Designed for the scorching African sun, the SADF’s standard issue scarf protects the neck and face from exposure to the elements while allowing normal perspiration. As far as gear goes, there are far fancier things out there, but at the end of the day your plate carrier is going to feel awful heavy on sunburnt shoulders, and your rifle can't stop you from getting heat stroke.
Although not originally designed as a camouflage veil, it does a pretty good job there too. The netting breaks up the distinctive silhouette of a face while barely obscuring your vision.
