During the War, many soldiers preferred this style of garrison cap- it is more rectangular and "sharper" in appearance than the issue cap. These were purchased from tailors, clothing stores and Post Exchanges (PX's). Many enthusiasts have mistakenly christened these "paratrooper" models which is erroneous- any soldier or airman could (and often did) purchase these. They are made from the same type of wool serge as the Service Coat and Wool Trousers.
