1938 SWISS MILITARY TORNISTER (FÄLLAFF) RUCKSACK
This is an increasingly scarce well-preserved pre-World War II rucksack (Tornister), made in Switzerland for the Swiss infantry troops up in the mountains.
Vintage Swiss Army Cowhide and Leather Rucksack Backpack The appears to have a wooden frame, is canvas lined, leather trimmed and with a stamp which appears to read : KMV IMG with the swiss cross and PETIT PRIVE. The KMV we believe to be the maker Karl Weber. The bag has a square opening flap which folds over the front and is secured by 3 straps. Inside the cover flap is a horizontal map pocket which has a leather closing tab. Inside are 2 smaller buckled flaps which open to reveal the main compartment. Dimensions Approx. 39 x 38 x 13cm (15.5 x 15 x 5") Weight 840g In good condition. Shoulder straps required but original clips in situ ready for new straps. Some wear to leather trim and minor wear to leather straps. No damage - many years of use left in it.
On the pack are two leather name plates sewn inside and on the rear of the pack. "CHAELOZ P 31"
